Test fixtures and production testing

Test every unit automatically, and keep a record for each one.

We build the fixture and the station software that test a board with no operator judgment, and log the result against every serial number.

Who this is for

You are shipping boards and cannot yet prove the next hundred work.

A bench script that worked for the engineer who wrote it does not carry over to a production line, and a returned unit with no test record is a long argument. You need a fixture a board drops into, a test nobody has to interpret, and a log you can look up by serial number.

What you get

The fixture, the test and the record.

  • Fixture hardware A pogo-pin or bed-of-nails fixture with swappable fixture boards, its mechanics designed and built here, and its design files.
  • Test firmware and station software The code on the board and the program that runs the whole sequence, pass or fail against limits, with no manual steps.
  • Automatic checks Power, current, and sleep-current limits are checked, and every indicator verified by camera, instead of an operator’s eye.
  • Key testing for overlays For products with a membrane switch overlay, every key is pressed and read.
  • Serialization and logs Each unit gets a serial number and its results are logged as CSV or JSON, a per-serial record for returns and audits.
  • A written test spec The limits written down, so a pass means the same thing on every day and for every operator.
How it works

Four steps from board to test station.

  1. 01 Tell us what must be verified Send the board or its design files, what the test has to check, how many units you expect and whether they need serial numbers.
  2. 02 Design the fixture and the test We choose test points and probes, design the fixture and write the test firmware and station software.
  3. 03 Build and prove it We build the fixture and prove it on real boards until the limits are right.
  4. 04 Run it We run it here on boards we assemble, or hand it to your own floor, as your quote lists.

Questions

Before you ask

What does a 100% production test check?

Power, current, and sleep-current limits are checked automatically, and every indicator verified by camera. Where a product has a membrane switch overlay, every key is pressed and read.

Can you build the fixture for our own production floor?

Yes. We build the fixture and station software for your line, or run the same test here on boards we assemble. The deliverables are listed in your quote.

What should I send to scope a test fixture?

The board or its design files, what must be verified, how many units you expect each month, whether units need serial numbers and who will run the station. The test fixture request in the quote form asks for exactly these.
